Using the Auto Loan Calculator
Estimate an auto loan payment
Enter a vehicle price, down payment or trade-in amount, annual interest rate, and loan term. The calculator subtracts the down payment or trade-in from the price and estimates equal monthly principal-and-interest payments for a fixed-rate loan.
Look beyond the monthly payment
A longer loan term may lower the payment but can increase total interest and extend the time you owe more than the vehicle is worth. Consider the total amount financed and compare written offers from lenders before making a decision.
Costs not included in this estimate
Sales tax, title and registration, dealer fees, insurance, maintenance, add-ons, and negative equity are not included unless already reflected in the price or amount entered. Confirm the full out-the-door price and loan terms with the seller and lender.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include sales tax and dealer fees?
No. Those costs vary and are not included unless you add them to the vehicle price yourself.
Can I enter a trade-in?
Yes. Enter your down payment and trade-in value together. If you owe more than the trade-in is worth, include that negative equity in the amount financed instead.
Does a longer auto loan always cost less?
It often lowers the monthly payment, but can increase total interest. Compare payment and total cost together.
